Gerald Katabazi founded Volcano Coffee in Kampala, Uganda, with the goal of providing specialty coffee beans and green coffee trading while also offering barista training and consulting. The YASR30 startup has established a stable market price for farmers based on fair-trade principles through contract farming agreements that reward farmers for meeting quality standards. Volcano Coffee also dries and dehuls the beans to prevent post-harvest losses and provides roasting services to help farmers increase their profit margins when exporting their coffee.
