Position Designation: Sales Manager-Distribution Function: Sales 

Reports to (designation): Head Sales 

Main purpose of the position: 

The main purpose of the job is to plan, develop, optimize, organize, direct, manage, evaluate, and be accountable and/or responsible for all the sales activities in the distribution/dealer segment. 

The job entails the formulation and implementation of the sales plan, forecasting projected business, developing sales and pricing strategies, and drawing sales action plans and schedules for staff under the distribution/dealer segment. 

Reporting into this position (designation and level) 

Routine/Direct: Regional sales managers (2), Customer ServiceExecutives (2). 

Functional/Indirect: Area Sales Managers and Sales Officers 

Key responsibilities: 

  • To develop Annual and Monthly Business / Product Development Plans for the existing and new products and implement them with the approval of the Head of Sales; 
  • To prepare Pricing & Discount Structure for the Products and implement them with the approval of the Head of Sales; 
  • To meet Sales, Price Realisation, Collection, and Market GrowthTargets as per the approved Monthly and Annual Budget; 
  • To keep track of market trends (including the movements in global Markets) and to prepare Plans / Strategies for take corrective actions including timely revision of Pricing Structure & Discount Structures with the approval of the Head of Sales; 
  • To keep track of new Products and Development in the Metal Roofing, Tubes and Allied Building Products and work out possibilities of introducing such products in the Market in consultation with the head sales; 
  • To periodically review the Credit Limits extended to Customers and suggest necessary changes based on the track records of the customers and propose Credit Limits for new Customers for the approval of the Business Head so as to ensure that customers' accounts remain active and up-to-date and financial exposure of theCustomers always remain within the approved Credit Limits. 
  • To provide input to other departmental heads for planning for raw materials; production; so as to achieve full capacity utilization of all the plants. 
  • To keep track of feedback received from the Customers in respect of timely supplies; quality; and issues and coordinate with respective departmental heads for improvements and timely resolutions of issues;
  • Improve compliance with ERP systems with zero deviations from processes; 
  • Manage Performance of Sales Team. 

Budgetary responsibility: 

  • Participate in company budgeting cycles. Provide data for budgeting and monitor general expenses and accountability of the team. 

Procurement responsibility: 

  • Collaborate with planning and supply chain functions by providing data for sales forecasting and ordering 


Qualifications required:

  • Minimum academic qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in business-related studies with bias in Sales & Marketing 
  • Qualifications as an added advantage: MBA (Sales & Marketing) 

Experience required: 

  • General work experience (years): 8-10 years 
  • Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): 8 years iii.Industry: Manufacturing and FMCG
