Company description
Agro-Preneur Initiative is a Ugandan based social enterprise whose business is combating poverty through promotion of sustainable agri-business. We promote use of green technology, internet applications, structured financing and collective marketing to increase efficiencies along the entire value chain. We identify and target weaknesses in the agribusiness value chain, coming up with or adopting and implementing modern affordable environment-friendly solutions.
To help alleviate poverty, Agropreneur implements a basic four-step plan:
1) Financing for Farm inputs: we provide an $100 seed, tools and fertilizer loan to each farmer in the group that will be paid back in terms of produce whether crops or animals.
2) Training on agri-business sustainability techniques: we provide training
3) Marketing facilitation: in order to maximize profits from harvest sale, we make transport, storage and bulk marketing services available to the agribusinesses in our program.
4) Agro-processing capacity development: we would like to integrate a processing element to the value chain of the agribusinesses in our program such that the farm products are able to have a longer life and can be exported to international markets.
