FHI 360 - Kampala

Since the late 2000s, FHI 360 has partnered with local governments and community-based organizations in Uganda to develop and implement programs that address some of the country’s most pressing challenges.

FHI 360 works with the Uganda Ministry of Health (MOH) and Office of the Prime Minister to implement national policies, guidelines and tools that expand access to and the quality of maternal, newborn and child health services. As an implementing partner on the U.S Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Uganda Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Activity, FHI 360 works with the MOH to improve maternal and child health and nutrition outcomes by supporting the health care system in developing and implementing policies, guidelines and interventions; increasing the use of

data to guide program design and implementation; facilitating knowledge-sharing to document and share best practices; and strengthening coordination and linkages across government sectors to improve collaboration and efficiency. Our experts have also conducted research to inform the development of new ways to increase access to contraceptives and have played a key role in the expansion of injectable contraceptives.

FHI 360 is also a consortium partner with University Research Co. on the USAID Uganda Health Activity (UHA), which is working across Uganda to accelerate inclusive access to respectful, people-centered health services for Ugandan families; achieve and maintain sustainable HIV epidemic control; and ensure that family health and HIV interventions and outcomes are anchored in strong local health systems that use data to drive results and efficiently manage human, institutional and financial resources.

To address HIV, COVID-19 and Ebola, FHI 360 has worked with the MOH to implement social and behavior change programs for achieving and maintaining HIV epidemic control, increasing COVID-19 vaccination, and strengthening Ebola infection prevention practices.
